One Quick Decision Put Me in The Room

I waited a year for this.

My good friend and NFL QB guru Steve Calhoun called me last June (2025) to invite me to his charity/celebrity golf tournament.

What happened a month before the tournament might've changed my life.

This is the key point to remember: the world moves QUICKLY.

You need to adapt, improvise, and confidently make decisions. If you don't, life-changing opportunities can fly right by you.

I get a facetime from Steve in March. We chop it up for a bit.

Then he hits me with "hey bro, why don't you come work my QB camp before the golf tournament?"

I thought.. "man, spend Father's Day weekend away from the family and head out to cali for 5 days.. I don't know if I can do that."

But then I quickly realized the opportunity that would be in Orange County.

I did a quick self-check. I thought for a split second. Then I came to a conclusion.

"If I do this for 5 days, it could allow me grow the business and network to be closer and more present to my family for 5 YEARS."

From that perspective, it was a no-brainer.

My trip to Cali looked something like this:

Friday- Arrive- rooftop dinner and Disney firework show

Saturday- Camp day 1- field work followed by Jordan Love film session

Sunday- Camp day 2- field work then chalk talk with Noel Mazzone

Monday- Jordan Love private workout followed by SD Padres game

Tuesday- charity/celebrity golf tournament

Wednesday- fly home

Thursday-Sunday- work Manning Passing Academy

In that time frame, I met more people and made more connections that I had in 6 months via socials and online networking.

I had to make the investment to put myself in the room with the best.

Of course I missed my family and kiddos, but the chance to grow my business and brand will allow me to be more present than ever in the long-term.

My advice to those that question the risk/reward..

Take the risk. Bet on yourself. Treat that expense as an investment. Trust the gut.

With the ever-evolving world we live in, it's just as important for our athletes to adapt as quickly as possible.
